I'm pretty sure everyone goes through a lull in their training due to work, family, location or other circumstances. So in these situations what can you do besides practicing kamae or reading up on BJK literature and viewing training DVDs? One answer which I found to be very rewarding was building my own shadowbox for the washi painting Soke made for me 4 years ago when I first visited Japan. I'll post photos I took throughout the process of what I was able to create in about 8 hours with $75 in supplies you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's. Hopefully others can use this as a rough guide to create one of your own to preserve and display your own dojo art.
