Hello there,

Please take full advantage of the search function on the home page of Kutaki. It can prove to be most helpful. A thread exactly the same as this was started only a few days ago HERE.

Hello there,

I could be wrong but I seem to remember reading something recently about a request from Bujinkan Honbu Administration that information about Japanese Shihan's training times and locations and prices is not to be posted on the internet. This could be why there have been few informative responses thus far.

The information for the Honbu is, fortunately, available HERE. I would suggest heading straight to Honbu training upon arriving in Japan and then asking there about various other Japanese Shihan's trainings.

Or you could also try to PM some people.

Hey there,

It appears to be available now! Parts 1 and 2 individually or as a set on DVD. I think if you spend a few minutes googling for a martial arts dvd dealer on the net, you should be able to find out more!

or pm me . . .

Hey there everyone,

I think we should all just chill out and take a deep breath and think about the situation. We are in a thread about the godan test. Not about rank. People have given some good insights in to what their experience with the test has been for them. Some have taken it to an unrelated level. Shawn, George, and Daniel, I recommend you all re-read all of the posts on this thread and then act in the best interests of the tread at hand. Please don't let personal ideas and preferences get in the way of a good discussion of experiences about the godan test.

Thanks,

Yes, but he can't go home..... can he?

P.S. It seems possible if he takes the Tsukuba express.

If he leaves Atago Station at 22:21, he will arrive in Fujisawa at 00:27 according to hyperdia.com

Hi there Levi,

Welcome to Japan!
If you leave Fujisawa on the 17:27 train this Friday the 23rd, you will arrive in Atago (Honbu Dojo) at 19:29. Training starts at 20:00. You can find train schedules easily at hyperdia.com At the Honbu, you can introduce yourself to some fine people there and most likely find out about some other trainings at other dojos that are available.

Here is a schedule of Honbu training with maps, courtesy of George Ohashi. You will most likely meet him at Honbu training, if you go.

I have seen many beginners at the Honbu training so I don't think you have to worry so much. Just be polite and courteous and everything will be just fine! But it might be a good idea to read the Guidelines for Participating in the Bujinkan

And it is also a good idea to sign your posts with your full name. You can easliy check the "Attach Signature" box at the bottom of the post window and it will be added, provided you have put it in your profile first.

Hope that helps!

Well, I suggest we go to this thread. We should have done so much earlier.
(Or, considering the contents of this thread, it may be the best if the mod of this forum renames this thread and moves it to Soapbox.)

Please go to the thread linked above (in the Soapbox) if you want to continue discussing the Spanish language. This thread is now locked. If someone wants to continue talking about the Ima Ninja book then please start a new thread.

OK, OK, OK.
Can we please get back to the topic at hand?

Some people think that moderators lock too many threads here on Kutaki but when they get this off topic, and start to heat people up, it is hard to not want to take out the keys. . .

Hi there,

I know a Japanese lady who is married to an American guy and the first book she recommended to him to start learning Japanese from was this one:

"旅の指さし会話帳 21 JAPAN"
(たびのゆびさしかいわちょう 21 JAPAN)
TABI NO YUBI SASHI KAIWA CHOU 21 JAPAN

ISBN4-7958-1843-6

Company: JOHO センタ しゅっぱんきょく
榎本年弥 (えのもととしや)

JOHO SENTA SHUPPAN KYOKU
ENOMOTO TOSHIYA

It looked pretty interesting to me. Lots of pictures with what they are called in Japanese. It might be worth thumbing through.
