Interesting topic. Am married to a "certified" MBTI administrator/interpreter of results. Seem to remember her saying that there are a variety of sub-levels/degrees of resolution within each of the primary letters of the MBTI type. Maybe a slighht explanation for the perceived "changes". Regards.

Chris-You are to be commended for your dedication and intense training schedule. Probably challenging and satisfying ,but ,I'd caution you to consider applying some "balance" and "pace yourself". Life is long and we want to train for a lifetime(vice an intense but dibilitating 5 years and quit). Your sleep pattern issue is your body and subconscious trying to tell you something. Advise you consider slowing it down by 50% and be able to keep training for twice as long. Make time for other life activities and be able to enjoy it all. Have "been there -done that" in my 46 years of training and it almost cost my marriage, health and spirit because there was no balance. Cut it back a little, thereby, allowing you to go for a lifetime. Best wishes.

Google "Kashitriya Warriors". There was a book(can't remember title/author) published in last 10 years that outlines history of martial arts that traces it back to these warriors. Hope it gives you a start. Best wishes

A thought. Outsiders from the TV companies come into our house after a shake and bake "ninja" training period and ---we're going to have a "challenge match" that will carry credence(in its results) in the martial arts world??? Right. For one they are our guests and we'll play with them within all sorts of limits-but, we won't go for the kill and embarass them from the outset, Bad manners neh? And secondly, if a guest does well at my expense then I say "interesting" and learn from it. Does it make me question 20 years of training-no! That has no reflection on and isn't an adverse relection of my rank, experience, and capability to fight. It was play with the guests!!!!! Doug and company played well. I'm sure the TV folks went away happy with themselves and the segment. The untrained/uninformed viewers got to make all sorts of sanctimonious and hindsight judgements. And we get to keep going and training with our buyu---because we love it. Gambatte!

There may be a reason ,or reasons, we think we live in peace and perceive our repective selves to be "safe". We have a difference in values and beliefs being exercised here. The key point to remember is while we all can disagree--it is the young men and women of the armed forces that ultimately goes beyond the normal expectancy/resources of good citizxenship. In reality they are defending your right to disagree and think its "stupid"(to 1/2 way around the world (whether we concur with your opinion or not). This fact alone should be appreciated and kept front and center in our thoughts. Best wishes.

Kamae can be thought of as a series of "snapshots in time"-as one moves naturally(taijutsu) in concert with feeling and the energy/intent your opponent is giving you. In your movement and occupation of kukan- intuitive(not cognitive) body, mind ,and spirit response(ingrained through training) can reflect a subtle, yet very natural(mushin)flow of kamae that morphs in an almost unnoticable manner(i.e. to the opponent). Just a thought to consider. Best wishes.
