Hatsumi-sensei has said that if you have a problem with a particular Shidoshi, or someone claiming to be a shidoshi, then you should take it up with them directly. Have you done that with all of the many people on Vancouver Island and BC mainland? Or are you much more satisfied to keep complaining about them here on Kutaki?

I agree that if you are serious about training in Bujinkan martial arts, you should ask your instructor to see his or her current Shidoshi-kai membership card in order to make sure he or she is indeed ceritfied.

However, Mr. Spada, if you want to start splitting hairs over distances between Shidoshi-ho instructors and their Shidoshi then maybe we should discuss the length of time since the instructor was last training with Hatsumi-sensei. I clearly remember Hatsumi-sensei saying in class that all Shidoshi should be training with him at least once a year. I know of a certain Shidoshi-ho who, "lisences (sic) through certain shidoshi who do not even live in the same country as they do" and has trained at Hatsumi-sensei's class only six months ago.

This next question is for everyone, including Mr. Spada:
How long ago was your Shidoshi, or Shidoshi-ho, training at Hatsumi-sensei's class?

Hi there,

Usually, your card is blank when you receive it; even in Japan. You are then supposed to sign your own name on it. Kinda like when you get a gold visa card in the mail, you are supposed to sign it right away!!

Hi there,

there was a thread that ran quite a while back called, "Soke's Japanese." It is very full of qotes from him and their translations. You might want to have a look through it HERE.

Hope that helps!

Hi there Stefan,

How would you like that feedback? In PM, E-mail or just as a reply right here to your post? Yours was well received, thanks!

Thank you for your comments!

Hi there,

In case some people have completely lost sight of the point of this thread, here is a little clipping of the thread starting post:

"The grass is always greener over the next hill" is a funny quote to describe one of our human faults - dissatisfaction.

I am constantly amazed how people seem to think that they need something else, all the time. Whatever fad is happening in the MA world is somehow better than what they have already. Whatever thinking is being pushed in the limelight is somehow more relevant, more powerful, more efficient than what is already available to them to learn.

. . .

It might even be a good idea to go back and re-read the whole post. Either way, I just wanted to jump in and state that this is not a "keep challenging Ralph" thread.

I think Ralph has been very patient and polite in answering every post directed at him. Let's try to keep things on topic, please.

Hi there,

Jeremy aka diamondjoe here. One of the other Admins here on Kutaki . . .

First, I would like to say a big thank you to Jan for now allowing users a window of time to edit their posts after they have posted them. Hopefully, this will be very useful to many Kutakians! Jan also pointed out a really good feature that Kutaki has when posting. The edit button. Please have a go with it when you are just about to post.

Jan, do you think you or another moderator could do something about all these new villagers not signing their posts with their real names? i don't find cowardice to be a virtue.

New villagers who register without putting their real full name in their profile have their accounts immediately deleted. So unless a new villager has not yet come under the radar of myself or one of the other two admins, you can most likely see their real full name in their profile by simply clicking on their user name.

Signing posts with a user's real name is strongly encouraged here on Kutaki. One can easily put one's full name in the signature of their profile and then simply click on the "Attach Signature" when posting. However, it might take some time for a new user to get comfortable with Kutaki and become aware of this. They might not be worthy of the title, "unvirtuous coward" if they simply have not yet realized that it is common practice here to do so.

Have a great day!

Hi there,

I have used ryoukin (料金 - りょうきん) in the past when talking about a fee for a dan grade. Hope that helps.

Hi Eva,

I recommend the Tenshiyama Slums! There is a banner ad that runs here on Kutaki at the top that you click for more information.

Also, there were some other threads in the past that you can have a read through:

Places to stay for DKMS

Staying at the Asuza Inn

Hotels in Kashiwa?

Please provide your FULL NAME when you sign up for a user account here at Kutaki as outlined in the FAQ. Otherwise your accounts will keep getting deleted, as will this thread you started.
