I was wondering if anyone knew of any difference between these two kamae (Hanin and ryuho), or if they are in fact the same thing (perhaps different phonetic interpretations of the same kanji?).

I wasn't even aware there were record's of any of Takamatsu sensei's teachers outside of anything directly related to Takamatsu.
I mean, are there other sources that mention Ishanti and tadafusa?
I'm very ignorant when it comes to this sort of thing, but i think it would be really neat to know more about Takamatsu's teachers

Aha yeah, it was at the end of the first shinobi no mono. Theres a scene where the actor is running in the yoko aruki style along a castle wall. The story goes that sensei acutally didn't let him pee all day and they put a bathroom at the other end of the set, so the actor could run to it. It seems to have worked, it looked like some damn good yoko aruki to me.
