Hi,
that particular mon is called mitsu tomoe (domoe sometimes) 三つ巴, literally "three commas".

Hi Mats,
funny how fast things like that can spread. Apparently quite a few people in Germany were wondering about that term, but it seems, it may be a bit overestimated in terms of direct impact on the theme. Of course, harmony of various things is always an important factor in martial arts in general.

Thank you for the explanation!

Hi,
connected to this years theme some people keep mentioning the word "bushiwa" but so far I did not get a response explaining the specific meaning and/or giving the correct/possible kanji.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
a student of mine will be au pair in Helena, MT for about one year. She just joined us one month ago but is really enthusiastic and she would like to continue training. Any info about dojos or training groups will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
my brother is going on a buisness trip to Japan and will have most of his meetings in the Niiza and Asaka area in Saitama. I have never been out there so I have no idea if there are any hotels out there and if yes, which one might be best. He in not very picky, but the company is paying, so mid-range standard should do.
It would be greatly appreciated if anybody here had a few (or even one) suggestion for a nice place to stay.

Thanks,
Karsten

Hi,
I think the chain of those cheap martial supermarket kusari gama is attached to the handle because thats the way it has always been shown in the books by Hayes/Hatsumi and so on. I think they came up at the same time as those velcro shuko and the foldable hook.
I have also seen more of the chain@blade types in other styles. I think they are not beeing reproduced as training weapons because the people of the styles still actively training them just don´t get their gear from AWMA. This is of course just a historical side note and not intended to make the Ebay offer look better. If anything, it´s the other way around, and the offer is fit to the expectations of certain people.

Karsten

EDIT: The same seller has another model for sale LINK
I don´t claim to have seen it all but that is one unusual design.

I would stay away. For what reason I do not know, but this seller and some others put a lot of "old" kusari gama on the market. I have seen a lot of these auctions over the years and I wonder, why of all weapons, so many antique kusari gama should have made it to ebay.
I have been told that the japanese antiques market has its fair share of frauds and an Ebay sellers adress in Japan alone is no guarantee. Not saying that this particular offer or the seller is a fraud, but I would be careful.

Thank you for the confirmation Richard. It was one of the dojo google and the Winjutsu yellow pages showed for NYC. Apparently its just a few blocks from where I´ll stay.

Take care,
Karsten

Hi all,
I will be in New York for a week starting tomorrow. Although I have a tight schedule I would like to visit a Bujinkan Dojo if possible. I will stay at a place near Canal Street in China Town. Is there any dojo you would recommend?

Thank you very much,
Karsten

Hi,
I will go to Madeira for a few days and I was wondering if there is any Bujinkan activity on the island.

Regards,
Karsten
