I totally second www.japanesepod101.com. Free and informative, plus there is a huge archive of daily lessons. Not sure if you can access these from a public computer though.

Learn the kana, peep the library for materials, download the podcast, smile.

Can anyone recommend any materials for learning japanese?
I was thinking of getting some software in addition to pimsleur for listening and workbooks for writing. Of course please recommend anything that has helped you along the way please (Im avoiding romanji though).

thanks!

Thanks Mike, you are the man.

If I may ask, Did you have any official schooling in the Japanese language before landing jobs translating? Or was the fact that you could speak and write well and maybe that you had passed level 3 enough?

Thanks Mike!! I appreciate the info.

Are you saying that if I pass the ikkyu test then I still may not have a grasp of the language?....That sounds discouraging. I thought that was the whole point of the test, to measure profiencey. I understand that at that level you may have to keep working to be able to read newspapers and magazines, but I assumed that proficiency in a language is a little more measurable than martial arts skill. I dont know, Im still pumped.

Hello. Are there any non-native speakers out there that have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Tests? I am interested in studying for and eventually taking these tests, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Whoa...thanks for the heads up. This game looks pretty dang sweet. Im happy to see the aquire dudes whom did the original tenchu are back.
Tenchu 1 was the best thing ever. Tenchu 2 was fun but embarassing when your sensei george carlin and ayame sounds like a dsb. 3 was OK I like the smoothness and of course the improved grapics and how it 'tried' to holla back at tenchu 1. This one looks good.

'bout time! Nice job Sean and everybody who contributed.
Loads of new video up too, many I've never seen before. Thank you Sean for becoming more computer literate!

Im sorry for your loss danny.

I still cant believe that it happened here, I've stood in the exact spot. It could have been a lot worse if not for your friend and others who stepped up to do something to stop that crazy prick.....
