Of course it is everywhere, it is a human condition. Politics is not bad in itself, but it can be used in a very controlling and detrimental way. We all need to make certain that we as individuals don't buy into that detrimental politics. We do get to choose how we respond, we get to accept or reject based on our own moral code of what is right and honest. We get to use our OWN minds in deciding.

I've heard that whenever 5 or more people come together, factions start forming.

It should not be surprising that someone should follow what Sensei says to them in private over what he announces to the whole class.

Could you re-state that somehow? Do you mean what Sensei says to them directly?

I don't have a chip on my shoulder as I'm making passing comments. I'm just sorry that you do. Goodness! The seriousness of it all!! Relax. Chill. Have a nice warm drink and let it go.

Hatsumi Sensei's "keiko shirou" approach reminds me of Alexander's untying of the Gordian knots. This thread reminds me of denying Alexander the victory.

I just think the mushin-minded budoka would probably not be debating about what mushin is, he/she'd be out there doing.

It just seems that a whole lot of SHIN is being put into the discussion on MUSHIN. It almost seems to defeat the purpose. Perhaps Yoda said it best. There is no TRY , only DO.

Yes, but using the environment where he's living would mean sinking well deep into the bog;) Actually carpet should suffice if indoors. Just enough to help you feel the effects of a fall with a minimum of injury. (a nice shaggy carpet maybe)

Hi Joel,
I live up here in Togakushi and train with Matsuhashi (he doesn't own, run or really have much at all to do with the ninja museum. He's got a souvenir shop near the Middle Shrine of the triad of shrines). The other veteran here actually owns the biggest soba shop. They all train with Hatsumi Sensei from time to time. The 4 of us will be on NHK Furusato Ichiban (after the noon news) on March 18 & 19 live. Anybody who wants to blow their cover is welcome to join the fun:)
