Amazing that not one statement has been made about the context of the book itself...

My personal opinion is the same I made in 1986... The year that Mr. Tanemura first began spouting specifics of the individual Ryu'... An influx began about specifics and wwhat Hatsumi Sensei was teaching at the time went out the door...

Everyone began asking question's about what came from what... and stopped focusing on things like Uke-Nagashi and Kuzushi...

At that time I had more information about such things than most, and I steadfastly complained that the focus was on the names and not the training...

This book will not help your Taijutsu... only training can... 22 years later I still believe that...

But hey!!! Great pictures of weapons, scrolls and training...

Me??? I see Hatsumi Sensei's grey hair that wasn't there in the 70's or 80's... The same teachings though... 25 years later... We are fortunate enough to have better translators but the training still has to be done...

Here is an uplifted glass to many more years of a shining light emanating from what many refer to as Sensei!!!

Daikomyo' is the true treasure of the Bujinkan and most of many fortunate lives... That is Mr Masaaki Hatsumi Sensei!!!

Now put the new book down and "Shut up and train"!!!

Quickl update. I ordered Soke's new book today from Richard Van Donks Bushindo website. They got about 184 copies of them in yesterday. I think the price is set at about $25.00 plus the shipping. :)

I was rather surprised to find a copy at the Shinjuku west Kinokuniya bookstore.

I love the opening paragraph about Bufu. That made my year! With every volume that sensei writes, warrior ways find their roots deeper in antiquity and are expressed more clearly as a universal principle.

I bought and devoured the book.

I agree with Liz that the opening paragraph was wonderful. The first few pages really helped put my own training and path into perspective, in a far more profound manner than the previous books.

I find his frequent wordplay fun and creative as well. I wonder if people do the same with English? I might try to tackle it!
