To those that are in Japan and have seen Hatsumi Sensei, I am curious if he has commented on the Tragic Natural Disaster of the Tsunami that has struck as many as 12 Countries with a projected death toll to reach 100,000 and with a suspected million homeless without shelter, food and medical aid.

A “disaster of unprecedented proportion in nature” is unusual in today’s modern age and since Nature, Climate and Terrain is so important in our art, I wonder how he has referred to this tragic worldwide event.

Positive energy to those affected and in mourning.

Soke didn't say anything about the disaster because we didn't know anything about it yet when we had our last class last Sunday.

Just wanted to mention this while its fresh, but I have decided to forward all Kutaki donations for 2005 to the Red Cross / Red Crescent Society to put towards relief efforts for this disaster. I've been watching it on the BBC all week and really have no words to describe how I feel - so much loss, and some of the world's poorest are taking the brunt of it yet again.

I urge people to do what they can to help directly of course, but anything that comes in to Kutaki will also be donated. One small bit, but every bit helps I hope.

Shawn-

Maybe this should be stickied so it does not get lost in the shuffle?

Here is the link to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society. There is a donation link on the right side of the page near the top. Be aware the link is being hit frequently and may take a while to load.

They accept credit card payments btw.

I woke up that morning to the news of the earthquake, and then about an hour later the news of the tsunamis, and that there might be as many as seven thousand lost. I remember being shocked and unable to believe there could be so many... but the number only becomes more and more insane by the hour...
