Some words of wisdom for all of us newbies
Deleted_
As you might have seen in my profile. I am a marine and I am over in bahrain at this time. Even though the profile said MI/CA. I am from MI and station in San Diego.
But anyway I have made up my mind that once I get out of this place(in a year and a half) I will get back into training and I have made the choice to go to the bujinkan style of martial arts.
Because MI is over run with korean schools and I wanted something diffrent.
I was wondering is words of wisdom that you can part on those of us that are not in your art just as of yet, but find it really cool
Thanks

hi carl,
the only wise words that spring to mind at the moment are, 'please sign your posts with your real name or your account will be deleted'

welcome to kutaki,

Darren... since when do you police the forums?
Does real name include your last name.. or just your first?

Hi Carl-
The best way to start is to learn from a qualified Shidoshi. There are a few Bujinkan schools in MI. There are also many books by Soke Hatsumi and others that go into great detail about the Bujinkan martial arts. A good teacher and studying those books is a good way to start, I think.

not policing just friendly advice, the mods. are really cracking down.(have a look at how many deleted ones there are recently)

i think first is ok, but maybe not? it's all just a click away.

Thanks, Hachi for some useful information. Michiel and Dazza, please let the moderators do their jobs.

As for Vader, welcome to Kutaki!
There is already a lot of information buried here in past threads. Please take advantage of the search function and look for solo training ideas.

I would suggest, if you can not find any training groups accessible to you, to do some stretching every day and perhaps, get a (some) Hatsumi-soke DVD(s). There is a good on called, "Kobudo no Kihon."

Hope that helps!

Welcome Vader! You are where "reality" is all that matters, stay safe. When posting use both your first and last name, it is a way we use to keep people more responsible in their posts as their name is right there. It works quite well. In both Michigan and California there are numerous good teachers and we will be happy to get you "connected" when you are back home. All the best in you tour of duty.

Welcome to Kutaki Carl,
and thanks for being understanding on your name in your posts.

Actually in the FAQ's you'll see that you really have been just fine so far. Real name in your profile and it is "preferred" that you sign your name in your post.
Given the evolving situation the admins may change this to "require" but you've done just fine so far and welcome again!

I totally agree with Papa-san in that your in the training right now. You'll love the Bujinkan when your home and a bit safer, but who know's?, you may find someone in the Buj to play with over there!

stretch often,
practice low stances,
and get yoruself a copy of history and tradition by Hatsumi

and at your first chance find yourself a qualified instructor.
