Yari shaft length

Hi, I am in the midst of making up a batch of practice Yari. Can anyone let me the know an aprrox. of the shaft length? Same as bo per chance or a wee bit longer? Any and all help aprreciated.

I like a six-foot shaft with a one-foot blade. This is because it is the maximum length that can be transported on a Japanese train during peak hour without hitting the fluro lights and showering the other passengers with glass.

I believe most real yari were a bit longer though - with a shaft of 7 - 8 foot.

The general rule of thumb is seven foot overall length. That being said, as with all things nihonto related, the exceptions seem as common as the rules.

The way I look at it, Yari is a Bô with a Tantô attached - so twice the length of Hanbô (from groun to navel) and then the blade...

And that would make Naginata "Bô with Kodachi attached"
