Re: Bo vs. Bo... training?

I concur with what Papa-San stated. I try to live life fully with no regrets. I take advantage of the opportunities in front me when I am able to make a choice.

As I travel through this existence, one of the things I treasure is how I spend my time. I can make more money somewhere else, tomorrow or next week.

Once I spend my time, I can never get that back or get a little more. How I spend my time always seems to reward me tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, next decade....

Never look back, enjoy where you have been, ever forward. Good luck on your journey. Ganbatte.

On teachers and black belts....

My view on this is that not all black belts are teachers!

I dunno how it goeth in Tôshindô, but in the Bujinkan Dôjô those who are teachers are members of the Shidôshi-kai. They can be either Shidôshi-ho or Shidôshi, or Shihan, but not all "black belts" are automatically teachers as it seems to be in some other martial styles. In ours - the way I've understood it - Shodan is still more than less Shodan, beginning step, not "1st level teacher grade"

So, when I talk about finding a teacher, I mean locating a person who is a qualified teacher of the art. As said, in Bujinkan Dôjô that would be a Shidôshi-ho, Shidôshi or Shihan (and a Shidôshi-ho is under guidance of a Shidôshi or Shihan, too). In my view - agreeably B&W - there shouldn't be "teachers" who do not belong to Shidôshi-kai in Bujinkan Dôjô. There are some exception, naturally, but those require more work from the responsible Shidôshi/Shihan.

So, good luck finding yourself a teacher!

GreyArea - Perhaps you can find the time and resources to train with a teacher at least once a month, if not weekly. A common response here seems to be that there is no substitute. Good luck in your search.

Hello everybody!

I just want to thank all of you for your kind replies. To days ago I had a strange dream (involving a Bo). I don´t wanna go into details, but I came now to realize it´s meaning.

It said that I basically know everything I need to know - I just have to add life to it. Life, intent and spirit. It told me, that I can do this too. That is already there, but is holden back by something else.

So searching for more technical details is not what I need to do.

Thanks for this nice thread, without it my subconscious wouldn´t have talked.

Wow.

Clearly your dream was correct. Most self-serving ego driven dreams are, after all. And your 'subconcious' couldn't be wrong, anyway.

Have you ever heard the saying "you don't know what you don't know"?

Think about it.

Mr. Melzer,
I apologize in advance but...
This is your dream speaking to you from a fluffy pink cloud:
Not only can you fly but you are also a sagely master of Ethiopian cooking and thoracic surgery if you only allow yourself perchance to practice free from the encumberances of logic and common sense.

Gurgle.........cough!
