Curiousity is what leads me to the following two questions...

1. How far have you reached in this years theme (Gyokko Ryu)? Did you complete the Jo Ryaku No Maki? ( I know that was two questions in itself, sorry)

2. If you learned something new (feeling or concept) this year would you consider sharing it with the rest of us on Kutaki??

I know its hard to answer question #2, but it should lead to some interesting responses.

p.s I hope everyone has a safe and fun Holiday season!!

I tend to look at the essence of this years theme rather than following a susession of kata from TCJ.

Thanks for the reply Gary..

Don't you think you can get the essence from the kata?

I have never been a kata collector, I usually forget the kata itself after I have tried it, but I remember the feeling behind it...

Is that similar to what you do??

In my view each school has it's own feeling. Some more differing than the other. This feeling can be "sensed" in things like Sabaki, and that makes the things the way they are. In Gyokko-ryû - AFAIK - the elsewhere mentioned "Inryoku" (gravity) is a big lesson.

Thanks for the replies!!

I just noticed there was a topic done on this before, my apologies for bringing it up again.

Even though I think Gary and Ari gave better answers than the whole other thread did...LOL
