Shawn,

On George Ohashi's website - http://www001.upp.so-net.ne.jp/bujinkan/

There is a Bujinkan Guideline. Is this a different document? The one posted on his website looks like the original document from way back in 1958.

How many guidelines do we have floating around out there? Anybody want to set the record straight?

Hi Liz,

(From my notebook via a wireless hotspot I found in the parking lot of a Pennzoil outlet in White Rock... 懐かしい?)

The English version of the Guidelines on Ohashi-san's website is the version I translated a few years ago at the request of Soke and Ohashi-san. Ohashi-san checked and gave his nod to the translation when it was done. (The request was made because Soke and/or Ohashi-san had expressed a certain degree of dissatisfaction with the version that had been previously translated by someone else.)

Hope that sheds some light on it.

Shawn

PS: ... 1958 ??

White Rock?! I dream about a pint of Granville Island pale ale, sitting on the patio at Charlie Don't Surf, overlooking the pier...Damn, I'm homesick and jealous :)

http://www.japan-japan.com/regnal.html Showa 33 is 1958. That's what the document says.

I think it is very simple common sense

1. If you want to teach in the Bujinkan you need to be a member of the Shidoshi-Kai no matter where you reside. The only exception to the rule would be if Sensei has given you permission otherwise.

2. Shawn! What happened with the Seminar posting according to you was an honest mistake and as such in my opinion is water under the bridge.

3. Sensei has specifically stated that we should not train with Genbukan/Jinenkan period. Again, the only exception to the rule would be if Sensei has given you permission otherwise.
