Next month I will have been training with my shidoshi for a year. He has practice versions of every weapon I know of and has live versions of most of those. I noticed he doesn't have a yari though so I figured I would get one of the tips from Kris Cutlery

http://kriscutlery.com/japanese/yari.htm

and mount it up as a gift of appreciation.

I know the construction methods, traditional and non-traditional, but I haven't been able to find a information source on materials.

What wood would these have been made out of.
Where can I get a bottom cap.
I've decided to go with a combination of wire and metal bands for the binding strength portion. Would this have been steel as well or some type of brass or iron?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks

The ishitsuki isn't just a cap but a counterweight. According to Hatsumi-sensei it should be half the weight of the spear head and fittings.
