My prediction for a 2008 ninja fad:

1. Ninjutsu web sites see increase in visits
2. Bujinkan webmasters get more email inquiries
3. Forum increase in bbt (ninjutsu) vs mma vs bbj
4. Classes reminisce about the '80s fad
5. The whole thing will fade

Then, just like 25 years ago, we ignore it all and go on training.

That was pretty cool.

I'm very relieved that they didn't have nunchaku. I just knew they would somehow fit them in but they were good about it.

First of all...

Who were the other ninjas cutting 45 degree Tameshi-Giri?

Love you Doug but when he had your back and he didn't get bloody, Missed opportunity.

Noticed Noguchi-sensei and Seno Sensei in the background when it started... Did they ever spar with them?

Love you buddy.

I want to roll with that tenth planet ju'-jutsu Jason Chambers.

So, those of you who watched it, what did you think? Did it do an good job in representing Budo Taijutsu?

Little bit more of a "TV" show than I was hoping for.

If asked I wouldn’t say that it "represented" Budo Taijutsu. I'd be more comfortable saying that they briefly touched on/illustrated one of many techniques in Budo Taijutsu.

I was really hoping for more time in the Hombu dojo looking specifically at Taijutsu as opposed to the obstacle course (although that looked like fun), the sword cutting, the knife stuff, the shuriken stuff etc. I might even go so far as to say that Taijutsu didn’t really seem to be the interest or focus of the show.

That said, I'm rather tired and I'll give it another "closer" watch tomorrow.
*errr maybe in an hour and half I suppose it's on again at 2:00am. (I work nights, desk job).

A show with not so much Soke, and little taijutsu for me isnt really a "ninja" show.

Even though there was very little Taijutsu, I really liked the Shuriken, sword, knife, and obstacle course stuff!

It was better then I expected.

Seriously, I was extremly impressed by the challenge at the end.

Great job !

Dont under-estimate western martial arts and/or athleticism.
At the same time dont under-estimate ninpo-taijutsu.

Kudos to everyone involved.
As far as a competition goes....I think it proved that it is possible to test in an alive manner while adhering to realistic standards.
Excellent.
