Dear All,

Happy New Year 2008!
明けましておめでとうございます。
今年も宜しくお願いします。

Best wishes to all at this festive season!

2007 was a year of more growth and change on Kutaki. As always, there was a lot of heated argument and discussion as people do when they feel passion about something. And its this passion that fuels our martial arts training - for each of us in her/his own way. Membership on the site is now just short of 3,000, and as the site grows, more challenges present themselves. It becomes harder to manage, out-of-control threads attract more attention and are harder to moderate while still keeping everyone happy. I think the admin team and the moderators have done an admirable job of keeping Kutaki running as smoothly as it is, and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for what is most often a thankless job.

I'd also like to thank everyone who's participated in the site in one way or another over the past year. Participation creates more readership and participation, and that allows us to do things like donate to charity and organize events. 2007 saw the first Kutaki moderators training event, the first Bujinkan joint-instructor training opportunity of its kind in Japan, one that received the full support of Hatsumi Sensei. This was a great example of cooperation for the common good. Although its easy to miss the forest for the trees as we focus on individual threads that are attracting a lot of attention at any given moment, I think that the overall direction of Kutaki has been positive, and one which contributes to the Bujinkan community as a whole.

Once again, thanks to everyone for making Kutaki what it is. Let's keep going in a positive, constructive, and cooperative direction in 2008. May everyone have a safe and happy New Years' season, and may the "great light" of Daikomyo (大光明) be the fruit of your labour in the coming year.
