Dear All,

A visiting Bujinkan member was recently assaulted (apparently with zero provocation) in a bar in Kashiwa. A fight ensued and one of my non-Bujinkan friends jumped in to break it up. As a result he ended up with a severely split lip requiring stitches and a medical bill of 20,000 yen.

Please be aware and careful when you are out and about in Japan during non-training hours. Japan is generally a safe place, but things happen. (In this case the assailants were non-Japanese residents.) If you're involved in something like this, even if its not your fault, it can still bring a bad light on the Bujinkan.

Please use discretion and caution when you're out and about in Japan, especially when alcohol is involved.

Best wishes,

Shawn
