Does anyone have any idea what the Theme will be for 2009? Looking at previous years, seems that Koto Ryu has not been in the spotlight since 2000.

I'm hoping for Gikan, Kumogakure, or Gyokushin myself. Doubt it happens tho. Wishful thinking

According to this (http://bujinkan.me/blogs/2008/09/15/% ... %e8%a6%9a-sense-of-space/)page:

"As you know this years theme is the Togakure school. And what we is studying is the 面 OMOTE, outside or the visible and the 空間 KUUKAN. Next year we will be studying the 裏 URA, the inside, what is not visible or the secret. Soke said that next year we will go beyond kuukan. "

Watch for an announcement on George Ohashi's Bujinkan website.

We wait until then.

edit - Mats got it!

Whatever Soke says, goes, and whatever he does is worth learning

whatever the theme, it'll probably be fun. soke knows best haha. personally, i'd love to play with some bo =)

just a side note - without any regards for what that blog claims, while the reading for 面 is also omote and has just about the same meaning, the real kanji ought to be 表, which is the real opposite of the kanji for ura 裏. i study chinese, not japanese, so if they really do use 面 for omote instead, my apologies =p

I remember that last year we had the same thread and everybody was excited about the new theme...now I am a bit sorry that Togakure Ryu is ending. I really enjoy Ninja style sutemi movements.

Koto Ryu.

Now thats a school that ought to be on the menu more often(even Takamatsu Toshitsugu liked this one)

Hmmmm probably just a rumor but I've heard that next year we might continue with Togakure although in it's ura form. It's what I've heard I'm not responsible for the veracity of the information and I don't claim to be the author of it. In my honest opinion... it would be great to keep training in the Togakure Ryû.
