Ercan,

There have been several threads on Kutaki dealing with the Amatsu Tatara. There are a lot of opinions and thoughts on it, but very few people out there with definitive knowledge. I am not one of them, but since you asked for thoughts..... My understanding is that the Amatsu Tatara is a Religious/Medical/and Martial Arts group that was common to several the Ryu that make up the Bujinkan. The Religious and Medical aspects have not been taught for a while. It sounds as if the medical aspect was high tech for the times, containing physical medicine with pharmacological (herbal and otherwise) tools. There was also a philosophical/spiritual tool to the Medical arm that mixed many of the religious beliefs. The combination of the combination of Philosophy, science, and fighting skills is the basic material of any Martial art.

I think people get themselves into trouble when they concentrate on what were perceived at the time as Magical aspects of the Amatsu Tatara. I feel this is why Sensei is reluctant to talk much about it. It tends to bring out the kooks. Again, this is just my opinion.

Marty

Ercan,

Press on information and enjoy reading several good articles.

There are at least 3 people who were given Menkyo Kaiden in Amatsu from Hatsumi Sensei. The above websites are from the two of them. AFIK, they teach in their countries. Peter King is actually also traveling and giving some seminars this year in several countries (I am planning to attend one in SF). You may try to get to one and figure out for yourself.

as for my opinion: this is something I want to know more about, I managed to contact a licensed teacher and I will work on it.

peace

Thank you my friends,
I know the links Mariusz brought up. Peter King will be giving seminars in Greece, it will be like a certification program I think.
As I read, Amatsu felt like kind of Homoepathic treatment but not with just herbs, it also has different approach too.
That is why I felt the need to ask it here to get your thoughts other than the web sites. Still waiting for more

There is an article on Peter's site which seems to speak a bit about Amatsu Medicine:

I'm currently a student of Peter King in Amatsu Tatara Goshinjutsu and would recommend all practicioners of Budo Taijutsu to catch one of his lectures if you can - especially shidoshi.

It's a facinating part of Soke's martial art - the other side of the "martial" - and really, it's all the same.
