I think its important not to forget the natural steps and experience taken for Sensei to be able to make this statement..... A good foundation in the art is hard to achieve with principles alone...

My sense is that the ryuha as such are not what Soke feels are the truly important things which Takamatsu sensei passed on to him

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just wanted to point out one thing. There is no Soke of the Bujinkan, only of different Ryu-ha. Its easy to mix up things...The future will show us.

Even I understand your points (and I like to use Bujinkan very practical too) I see that 20 years later there will be nobody that can teach Takagi Yoshin Ryu.

As the information is still there, it is up to us currently studying to go/find that teaching.

Like in 2001 w/Gyokko-ryû; the forms were taught with clearly defined Sabaki et al.

To me this clip of Oguri sensei feels very much like Takagi Yoshin Ryu.

Yamazu,

Interesting point but "feel" seems to be the common vocabulary used in the Bujinkan. Even in situations that it doesn't apply to. How can you feel something from a video? When someone calls that I hadn't heard from in a long time. I don't say long time no see. It shows that people may be just throwing words around.

Just because Oguri has Menkyo in Takagi doesn't mean everything he does is with a Takagi feel or base. He is competent in the other schools with sufficient knowledge in history and principles. Just like most of the older generation Shihans.

Oh and the person wasn't "deleted" when I made my other post. That person was deleted shortly after. I don't know why?

Sorry i didnt get in on this Takagi topic earlier. This guy from europe showed me his Takagi warm up which had stuff like:
Do Shiko while holding a medicine (heavy)ball
Do Kihon ken sabaki while Shiko "walking"

Both helped you to concentrate on your form since your hands were busy as well as your legs

Does that contain the Mutôdori and Daishô sabaki?
