Hi All,

Some have been asking about news on the new Hombu Dojo. Hatsumi Sensei announced at a Shidoshikai meeting in February that the new Dojo would be built within this year, but I've heard recently that there's been some delay in construction with the local railway (the reason the Dojo was to have to move in the first place), which means that we'll continue using the current Hombu Dojo into the new year. Land is available for the new Dojo very close to the current location, so things are set to move ahead when the railway construction gets to the point where it becomes necessary.

That's all I know for the time being, but hopefully that answers some questions with regard to what the latest news is.

Cheers,

Shawn

Hey Shawn, what is the plan for the DKMS? Where will it be held this year? Is Ayasa back in operation?

Tuesday classes in October and November are back at Ayase (they start at 7pm). The main dojo that we train in has been fitted with new tatami (that are so brightly coloured they hurt the eyes, hehe). I don't know about Ayase after November.

I've heard that the DKMS will be held at Shimizu Koen again this year, meaning outdoor training if it's not raining.

Cheers,

Shawn

The most recent news I've heard regarding Daikomyosai is that Sensei has arranged for all 3 days of training to be held indoors in the big, hardwood-floor gymnasium. Glad to hear this - I've been a bit concerned about him catching cold if he were to end up teaching outside on a cold, wet day.

Have heard nothing recent on the new Hombu. The plot of land is within a stone's throw of the current Hombu, and I see no new construction going on in the area, so I'm assuming that the new one won't be built until next year. (There was also talk at one point of simply moving the existing building to the new location, but not sure if that will happen or not.)

For those coming to Daikomyosai and wanting accommodation 5 minutes' walk from training, there are 2 beds currently available in the Shimizu-Koen guest apartment (Photos here: http://bujinkan.graycastle.com/tenshiyama/amenities.html )

Cheers,

Shawn

Thanks for the update on the DKMS Shawn. I was a bit concerned about training outside too, don't like the thought of being wet AND cold! So it will be inside. The dates are November 30 and December 1 and 2, correct?
