Every instructor tends to have their own ideas about the syllabus so it's a little difficult to give you what you've asked for. For example, I could show you my syllabus and it might be different to that of your instructor. That being said, there are almost always certain commonalities between the approaches of the various instructors.

This is kind of one of those times where the primary approach is to ask your instructor. That's purely because it will be his syllabus that you will be working through, right?

It might be useful to get hold of a copy of the Ten Chi Jin Ryaku no Maki. Ask your instructor if he/she knows where they can get you one. Alternatively, try here:-

I hope this helps a little.

this is my dilemma. I started with john orth 12 years ago and stopped for military duty now 12 years has gone by i had gotten to 8 kyu.

I ran across the kobudo Atlanta which is a bujinkhan but they do not act like one really not the way that i had started. they teach 6 of the 9 schools, I had asked for a syllabus just for the 9 kyu test but he has been very reluctant to give me any info.

this year a lone the are focusing on one school kippo and naginata which is great. but when do u think i will get the syllabus.

Well... each D√j√ has their own... face, more or less. I don't think all the schools/teachers are even supposed to be copies of each other/someone else. People simply are different, have different views, different histories. Students most likely resemble their teachers, though.... as far as Taijutsu goes anyway

As for 6 out of 9... it is "common knowledge" that Gyokushin-, Kumogakure- and Gikan-ry√s are not widely taught as they have not been widely taught, as separate entities anyway, even in Japan. I speak myself in the same manner, as I can mostly teach things about the six schools.

Each year there is a theme - a Ry√, or a weapon - this comes from the way Hatsumi-s√ke focuses his teaching in Japan. Most of us teachers might be following this, too.

On syllabus... not all schools have one

Just get in there, talk to the teachers/students, watch a few training sessions etc. Gambatte kudasai!

please excuse me i am not the most educated when it comes to computers or related things.

Thank you for being patient with me and taking the time to explain to me.

Now as far as lineages are concerned when i started this art 12 yrs ago I was drawn to the combat side and i am still on that side of using my skills in combat or arresting bad guys. I have taken other martial arts also but I am only concerned with this style because this one makes the most sense. This was not a sport but combat!!

I have drawn a fondness of medieval japan and history but most in important wanting to train as the samurai/ ninja families did long ago.

I just wanted to explain what my search is and about. I look forward to meeting and training with everybody in the near future.
