I was looking at my shodan certificate last week when I noticed something in it that surpriced me (specially becasue I found out just last week having it for quite a long time now). In the line when it says "Budô Taijutsu" the "Tai" kanji isn't the karada "体" (body) but another one that I just can't make it (sorry not enough japanese classes). It looks (and only looks) like the "ko" from koppo and kosshi and another one just at it's side. I know that one yomi or reading is "tai" or else it would say something different rather than "taijutsu". I know Hatsumi sensei often plays with this linguistic aspect of japanese kanji, one day I hope to understand it (or at least try to do so). What is this kanji and what are it's kun and on yomi? Thanks!!!

They have been that way for a while now. See < this thread > from the Kutaki archive.

Doh! I used the search feature because I remembered this being discussed. When the search result came back I copied the url without noticing that thread was in the Shidoshikai forum. Sorry!

The kanji now used is the older one for 'Tai/Karada'. The on/kun readings are the same. However, as you noted, the radicals that form this older version imply a deeper meaning than simply "body"
