Hi Guys,

I am working on an ukemi-specific conditioning workout for my blog and was planning to use the Japanese terms for the rolls. Unfortunately, I realized that I don't quite know them!

Can anyone help me out with the proper Japanese for: front roll, back roll, side roll (with the leg crossing in front), and side roll (with the leg crossing behind? Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Jon Haas

A few good places to start for the names; Sanmyaku and Sôke's latest Taijutsu-book.

Also if you have a copy of the Ten Chi Jin Ryaku no Maki the Togakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu book, they should be very helpful as well.

Regards,

Lee

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I do have all of the references listed, it's just they were unavailable since I was at work when I posted the question yesterday morning. :)

Thanks again!

I was wondering the other day about the kanji for O-ten. I can't seem to find it but it makes sense that it would use the same ten as in kaiten, for transformation or change. Anyone know?
